Five sites, one website, twelve months

The Secret Garden Glamping runs several sites under one brand. The website treated them as one undifferentiated offer, which meant it could not rank for the thing guests actually search for, which is a place.

The problem

One page trying to be five places

Guests do not search for a brand they have never heard of. They search for a type of stay in a named place. The old site had a single page covering every location, so there was nothing for any of those searches to land on.

The booking path had the same problem. Whichever site a guest was interested in, the enquiry form asked the same generic questions, which meant every enquiry needed a phone call before it could be answered.

What we did

A page per site, and a booking path that knows which one

We rebuilt the site structure so each location has its own page, written around the searches that actually bring guests to that area, with its own photography, its own availability and its own enquiry path.

Underneath that we put a booking concierge: a short set of questions that asks what a human would ask, in the order a guest expects, so the enquiry that arrives is complete enough to answer in one reply.

The result

Found for the right searches, by the right people

Organic traffic rose 55% over twelve months, and more importantly it arrived on the page for the site the guest was interested in rather than on a homepage that had to explain itself first.

More than 2,500 tracked keywords improved their position, more than 500 new ones reached the top ten, and the average position rose by 28 places. Alongside the website we built their guest app. It brings every booking from five sites, three online travel agents and their booking engine into one place, and handles guest messages, extras, check-in notifications and a points-based loyalty scheme.
